The City of Garland presents a free showing of "Gone With The Wind" at the Plaza Theatre.  A winner of 10 Academy Awards, this classic film narrates the love between Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler during the Civil War. Concessions will be available, including Mint Juleps, a classic Southern treat.

Doors open at 5:00pm, the movie will begin at 7:00pm and will include the original intermission.  Come early to take complimentary 'Old Time Photos' with your family and friends.  Civil War-era costumes will be available for men, women and children and a professional photographer will provide free pictures from 5:00pm-8:00pm.

Shasta College’s Humanities Through Film class presents their annual Heritage Film Festival. This year’s festival features the classic Gone With The Wind on the big screen.  You will be entertained by the Civil War Reenactors, and students from Mrs. McCay’s Humanities Through Film class.

The Rose Theatre is thrilled to offer this new entertainment option as we strive to fulfill our mission in the community," Sara Holley, vice president of the Cotton Country Players, said. "We are thankful for the support of devoted actors and volunteers, generous patrons and cooperative business and civic partners — all of whom play a crucial role in keeping this treasure alive in Morehouse Parish. Now, we are looking forward to complementing our current line-up of live entertainment with some of the best pictures ever to hit the silver screen."

The Rose was built in 1927 by the Goodwin family of Bastrop. It stopped showing movies in the mid-1970s.

Beginning in March, the Cotton Country Players, which now owns and operates the Rose as a Non-Profit 501-C3 organization, will begin showing movies under the direction of Adam Holland of Holland Entertainment LLC of Oak Grove.
