Atlanta has been the cinematic home city of Gone With the Wind since its historic premiere on December 15, 1939 at Loew's Grand Theatre on Peachtree Street. Gone With the Wind has returned to Atlanta for exclusive screenings during every major anniversary accompanied by return visits from GWTW producer, David O. Selznick, Vivien Leigh, Olivia de Havilland, Ann Rutherford, Evelyn Keyes, and others associated with the film. Unfortuantely, Loew's Grand was damaged beyond repair in a fire on January 30, 1978. Since that time, the Fox Theater has been the proud adopted home theater of Gone With the Wind, including playing host to the surviving cast and fans in 1989 for the 50th anniversary screening.
This year will be the first time GWTW has screened at the Fox since its 70th anniversary screening in April of 2009. This will also be one of a few authorized screenings for the 75th anniversary. It is definitely an event not to be missed!
